Which Visualizer Style Should You Use?

StyleWhat it looks likeBest for
CircleBars around your cover art, pulsing with the kick drumSongs with artwork, YouTube uploads, release teasers
BarsThe classic equaliser: low notes on the left, highs on the rightEDM, hip-hop and anything with a big beat
MirrorBars that grow up and down from a centre lineVertical videos and lyric-free tracks
WaveThe sound wave itself, drawn as a glowing lineLo-fi, ambient, podcasts and voice

How Does an Audio Visualizer Work?

An audio visualizer measures how loud each pitch in the music is, many times a second, and turns those measurements into shapes. This one takes a slice of your song 30 times a second and splits it into frequency bands, from deep bass to sparkly highs, using a maths trick called a Fourier transform.

  • Bars and mirror: each bar is one band, so the kick drum moves the bars on the left and cymbals move the ones on the right.
  • Circle: the same bands wrapped around your cover art, with the circle swelling on every kick.
  • Wave: no bands at all, just the shape of the sound wave itself, like an old oscilloscope.

The preview and the download use exactly the same maths, so what you see while it plays is what you get. When you export, your browser draws every frame and encodes the video itself, which is why your song never has to be uploaded anywhere.

What Size Should a Visualizer Video Be?

ShapeHD size720p sizeUse it for
16:91920 × 10801280 × 720YouTube
1:11080 × 1080720 × 720Instagram, Facebook
9:161080 × 1920720 × 1280TikTok, Reels, Shorts

HD looks sharper on big screens. 720p makes smaller files, exports faster and uses less memory, so it's the better pick on a phone and plenty for TikTok and Reels.

Is This Audio Visualizer Really Free?

Frequently asked questions

What is an audio visualizer?

An audio visualizer turns sound into moving graphics, like bars, rings or waves that jump with the music. Musicians use visualizer videos to put songs on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram without filming a music video.

How do I make a music visualizer for free?

Drop your song into the visualizer above, pick a style (circle, bars, mirror or wave), colours and a background or your cover art, then click Make my visualizer video. It's free, with no watermark and no sign-up.

Does the free audio visualizer add a watermark?

No. Videos you make here have no watermark or logo, so they're ready for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram as they are.

What size should a visualizer video be?

1920 × 1080 (16:9) for YouTube, 1080 × 1920 (9:16) for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and 1080 × 1080 (1:1) for Instagram and Facebook posts. Pick 720p for smaller files that are quicker to make on a phone.

Is my song uploaded anywhere?

No. The visualizer reads your song and draws the video inside your browser, so your audio never leaves your device. That makes it safe for unreleased tracks.

Why does my export take as long as the song?

Your browser doesn't support fast video encoding, so the visualizer plays the song through once and records it. Keep the tab open until it finishes, or use a current version of Chrome, Edge or Safari for a much quicker export.

Can I use the visualizer video commercially?

Yes. The video is yours to use however you like, including in monetized YouTube videos. You still need the rights to the song itself.
