Discord Timestamp Generator
Make a Discord timestamp that shows the right time for everyone, wherever they live. Type a time or pick one in any time zone, then copy one of the 9 codes, a countdown or a whole weekly schedule.
Read a timestamp someone postedOpen
On Discord for desktop you can also type @time to add one timestamp in your own time zone. This page works on phones too, lets you set the time in any zone, shows every format at once and makes schedules.
How to Make a Discord Timestamp
- Type a time like friday 8pm ET or in 2 hours, or pick the date, time and time zone.
- Find the format you want in the list. The preview shows how it looks to you.
- Tap Copy (or the code itself) and paste it into a Discord message, a channel topic or an event description.
- Send it. Everyone sees the time in their own time zone and language.
The code has three parts: <t:, a Unix timestamp (the moment in seconds), and an optional letter for the format, closed with >. For example, <t:1618935630:R> shows how long ago or how far away that moment is.
All 9 Discord Timestamp Formats
These are the styles in Discord's developer docs, with how each one looks in US English for April 20, 2021 at 4:20:30 PM:
| Code | Name | Looks like | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| <t:…:t> | Short Time | 4:20 PM | Just the time, like a start time |
| <t:…:T> | Medium Time | 4:20:30 PM | The time with seconds |
| <t:…:d> | Short Date | 04/20/2021 | Just the date, in numbers |
| <t:…:D> | Long Date | April 20, 2021 | The date written out |
| <t:…:f> | Long Date, Short TimeThe default | April 20, 2021 at 4:20 PM | Date and time; what you get with no letter |
| <t:…:F> | Full Date, Short Time | Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 4:20 PM | Adds the weekday; best for events |
| <t:…:s> | Short Date, Short TimeNew in 2025 | 04/20/2021, 4:20 PM | Compact date and time |
| <t:…:S> | Short Date, Medium TimeNew in 2025 | 04/20/2021, 4:20:30 PM | Compact date and time with seconds |
| <t:…:R> | Relative Time | in 3 hours, 2 days ago | A live countdown, like "in 2 hours" |
Leave the letter off and you get f. Discord added s and S on October 31, 2025, so older guides and some bot libraries only list 7 formats. People using 24-hour time, or a language other than English, see each format the way their app is set up, like 20/04/2021, 16:20.
How to Make a Countdown in Discord
The R (relative) format is a live countdown. It reads "in 3 days", then "in 5 hours", then "in 2 minutes", and after the time passes it flips to "5 minutes ago". Nobody has to refresh anything.
On its own, a countdown hides the actual date, so for events put the two together. The generator's first row does exactly that: <t:…:F> (<t:…:R>) shows as Friday, January 1, 2027 at 8:00 PM (in 2 months).
Timestamps for Another Time Zone (EST, PST, GMT)
You don't have to work out the time difference yourself. If your event is 8 PM in New York and you're in London, pick Eastern Time (New York) in the generator, or type 8pm ET. The code it makes is the same moment for everyone, and each person's app converts it.
Pick a place, not a fixed offset. "EST" strictly means UTC−5, but New York is on EDT (UTC−4) from March to November, so a code made for a fixed UTC−5 ends up an hour off in summer. Places like New York, London or Sydney follow their own daylight saving rules, and the generator shows the offset that applies on your date.
Discord's @time Command vs This Generator
In early 2026 Discord added an @time command to its desktop app (Discord's patch notes). Type @time, optionally followed by something like "tomorrow at 8pm", pick a format, and Discord inserts the code for you.
It's handy for a quick one-off, but it uses your own time zone and adds one format at a time, and as of November 2026 Discord's patch notes only mention it for desktop. Use the generator when you're on a phone, when the time belongs to another zone, when you want a countdown and a date together, or when you need a code for a bot.
How to Read a Discord Timestamp Code
The number is a Unix timestamp: the seconds since midnight UTC on January 1, 1970. 1767225600 is midnight UTC on January 1, 2026. Ten digits means seconds, which is what Discord wants. A 13-digit number is in milliseconds, and pasting it into a code gives a nonsense date tens of thousands of years from now.
To see what someone's code means, open Read a timestamp someone posted in the tool and paste the code, the number or their whole message. It shows each time in your zone, and in another zone if you pick one.
Weekly Events and Stream Schedules
A timestamp can't repeat, so a weekly game night or stream needs one code per date. Set the first one, open Make a weekly or daily schedule, choose how many, and copy them all at once. Each date keeps the same local time, so 7 PM stays 7 PM after the clocks change.
Timestamps in Bots, Webhooks and Embeds
Bots and webhooks use the same codes. Put <t:1767225600:F> in a message, an embed's description or a field value, and it renders like any other timestamp. Embed footers don't format text, so a code there shows as plain text.
An embed's own timestamp field is different: it takes an ISO 8601 time, like 2026-01-01T00:00:00.000Z, and shows it small at the bottom. The generator gives you the Unix and ISO 8601 versions of every time, ready to copy.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a timestamp in Discord?
Pick a date and time above, or type one like "friday 8pm ET", then copy a code such as <t:1767225600:F> and paste it into your message. Discord turns the code into the date and time in each reader's own time zone. On Discord for desktop you can also type @time in the message box; on a phone, use a generator like this one.
What are all the Discord timestamp formats?
There are 9: t (Short Time, 4:20 PM), T (Medium Time, 4:20:30 PM), d (Short Date, 04/20/2021), D (Long Date, April 20, 2021), f (Long Date, Short Time), F (Full Date, Short Time, which adds the weekday), s (Short Date, Short Time), S (Short Date, Medium Time) and R (Relative Time, like "in 3 hours"). Discord added s and S in October 2025.
What does a Discord timestamp show if I leave the letter off?
The f style, Long Date, Short Time, for example "April 20, 2021 at 4:20 PM". So <t:1618935630> and <t:1618935630:f> look the same.
How do I make a countdown in Discord?
Use the R style, for example <t:1767225600:R>. It shows "in 3 days", then "in 5 hours", and counts down live for everyone. For an event, pair it with the full date: <t:1767225600:F> (<t:1767225600:R>). The generator gives you that combination ready to copy.
Do Discord timestamps show in each person's time zone?
Yes. The number in the code is a Unix timestamp, a single moment counted in seconds from January 1, 1970 UTC, and each person's Discord app shows it in their own time zone, language and 12- or 24-hour clock.
How do I make a Discord timestamp for EST, PST or another time zone?
Pick the zone in the generator, or type it with the time, like "8pm ET" or "sat 7pm PST". Choose a place-based zone such as Eastern Time (New York) rather than a fixed offset, so daylight saving is handled for you: 8 PM Eastern is 8 PM whether that's EST or EDT on the day.
Why is my Discord timestamp an hour off?
Usually daylight saving: a fixed UTC-5 is EST, but in summer New York is on EDT (UTC-4). Pick New York (Eastern Time) instead of a fixed offset. It can also be a wrong clock on the device that made the code, or a 13-digit number in milliseconds where Discord expects 10 digits in seconds.
What is Discord's @time command?
A desktop feature Discord added in early 2026: type @time in the message box, optionally with a phrase like "tomorrow at 8pm", and pick a format, and Discord inserts the code. It uses your own time zone and adds one format at a time. As of November 2026, Discord hasn't announced it for the phone apps.
Can a Discord timestamp repeat every week?
No. Each code is one exact moment. For a weekly stream or event, open the schedule section above and it makes one code per date, keeping the same local time even when daylight saving starts or ends.
How do I use Discord timestamps in a bot, webhook or embed?
Put the <t:...> code in the message content, an embed's description or a field value, and it renders like any other timestamp. An embed's own timestamp field is different: it takes an ISO 8601 time such as 2026-01-01T00:00:00.000Z, which the generator also gives you.
Is the Discord timestamp generator free?
Yes. It's free with no sign-up and no bot to install. It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.
